Applications for all students are available in the fall for the following year. Children entering kindergarten and first grade are tested individually. The standardized tests are norm-referenced according to age. Children entering grades 2-5 are given standardized tests in a group setting. A copy of the child’s current report card must be presented for review at the time of testing for grades 1-5. Students are ranked by test scores and accepted accordingly. Placement is subject to a review of the student’s final report card. Siblings are given priority.

Parents are required to sign contracts for students entering South Highlands. A new contract must be signed yearly for each student. Contracts stress the responsibilities of students and parents including academics, discipline, and attendance.
