In 2003, a group of concerned parents began the South Highlands Foundation to ensure funding for the needs of students and teachers beyond what could be provided by the school district and state.

The Foundation exists to enhance the quality of our community by improving children's educational experiences at South Highlands by directly supporting projects and capital needs to bring the gap beyond what can be provided by the school district and state.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, all donations are dedicated to bettering South Highlands by providing children and families with the highest quality educational experiences. The Foundation Board and donors provide visionary and unwavering support designed to retail Louisiana's most competitive elementary education. We

Through the generous donations of parents and friends of the school, the Foundation has been able to provide major investments in South Highlands including:

• STEAM resources

• SMARTBoards, iPads and Chromebooks

• Robotics kits

• Musical instruments

• Theater equipment for the Performing Arts Center

• Renovation of The Tiger Den, an indoor multipurpose activity space

• Refurbishment of the school's 1-mile outdoor walking track
