Terry Wright

Shannon Bamburg - Drama

Shannon is a former South Highlands alum, who returned as the drama teacher in 2022. She is a mother of three girls, Ryan, Ryleigh, and Reeves, who keep her creativity and imagination flowing. Before joining the staff at SHM, she taught the very first Theatre students for the Talented Arts Program in Bossier Parish and served as their Lead TAP Teacher for 11 years. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from Centenary College and her Master of the Arts (specializing in directing children’s theatre) from Cal State in Los Angeles. She has directed/choreographed for such groups as Jose Gonzalez’s equity traveling company in Los Angeles, Stella Adler Academy, Cal State LA, and Peter Pan Players (where she served the role of Artistic Director).

Kelly Free

Kelly Free - P.E.

Kelly holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from LSUS and a Master's Degree in Teaching from Louisiana Tech. After working in the business industry for several years, she sought a more rewarding career in education. She discovered a love for teaching and its rewards when she began subbing at South Highlands while her daughter was attending SHM. She began her teaching career in Caddo Parish in 2014 and moved to South Highlands in 2015. She married Keith Free in 2002 and they have a daughter, Sydney. Kelly enjoys reading, camping, and hiking with her family.

 Audrey Garrett

Audrey Garrett - French

Audrey was born in Lyon, France. She was an exchange student in Utah during her senior year of high school, and she pursued graduate studies at the University of Oregon a few years later. She has taught English as a Second Language to French students in London, England and in the French cities of Paris, Lyon, Nice, Saint-Raphaël, and Draguignan. She moved to the United States in 2013 as an exchange teacher with the Council of Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL). She graduated with a Master’s degree in English and American Literature & History from the University of Lumière, in Lyon, France, and later obtained a Master’s degree in French as a Second Language from the University of Rouen, in France. Mrs. Garrett serves on the Foreign Language Caddo Parish Schools task force and works closely with the French Consulate in New Orleans and the CODOFIL in Lafayette. Prior Teacher of the year, Mrs. Garrett received her National Board certification in World Language and regularly presents in different Louisiana conferences.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She loves traveling, running, swimming, playing badminton, sailing with her parents on the Mediterranean Sea, skiing in the French Alps, and learning new languages! Audrey is fluent in French, English and Spanish, speaks conversational Italian, and took Turkish classes.

Anna Scott Lewis

Anna Scott Lewis - Art

Anna Scott is a graduate of LSU and a South Highlands alumnus. She student taught in first grade and gained field experience in kindergarten and second grade. She comes to South Highlands with a long history of working with children and parents. She is thrilled to be returning to her roots as a SHM Tiger!

Jessica Turner

Jessica Turner - Music

Jessica graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a big fan of coffee, traveling and all things music related. She is engaged to Ethan Granger and is looking forward to becoming Jessica Granger this fall. She is excited to share her love of music with the students at South Highlands Elementary!

Faye Yates

Faye Yates - Library

Faye returned to South Highlands after teaching for eleven years in Tampa, Florida. She previously taught kindergarten for South Highlands. At the end of her career in Florida, she implemented the first laptop program in an elementary school. After four years in the classroom, she was asked to head the elementary library at Berkeley Preparatory School. Mrs. Yates received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arizona in Tuscon. She began her Master's Degree in Literacy at Harvard University and completed at Columbia.
